Black History Month Celebration 2009!

Black History MonthOctober is Black History Month! To celebrate 2009′s event, pupils at St Augustine’s staged a very special performance for parents/ carers and visitors. Each class researched the lyrics of a prominent black recording artist. They then performed a song by the artist, and wrote their own poem based on the song they had chosen. What a performance it was! Many thanks to Miss Parr for her hard work in organising the celebration.

The audience were treated to performances of songs by Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Labi Siffre, Beyonce Knowles, and Michael Jackson among others. Check out some pictures from the performance below…

A Viking in our School

Yes you heard correctly! Year 3 really did have a Viking in their class! On the 7th October, Gary from a Viking reenactment group visited us to talk about life during the time of the Vikings and to show some artefacts to help the children imagine it. Gary showed us animal skins, wooden plates and other Viking objects.
